Behind the Scenes of an Annual Photoshoot…

This year’s Annual photoshoots were all shot in the gardens of a delightfully dilapidated Regency country house – Ashley Court is a B&B offering wellness and arts retreats in their extensive grounds that are carefully being revived back to a good working state from previous neglect. The mixture of slightly rundown textures, unruly foliage and well-kept beds was the perfect backdrop for our knitwear shoot, and the gardens were a joy to spend time in while trying to snap the perfect shots.

Photoshoots are very hard work, with lots of long days carrying equipment around and standing awkwardly holding reflectors, scrims and flags just so…

As well as setting up the perfect shots,

discussing the requirements,

adjusting the knitwear,

and checking our make up!

We also have to deal with technical difficulties (here we are trying to check the photos on a tablet without sun glare!),

and glamorous models,

or sometimes just general chaos (see if you can spot Helena in this one!)

We do also manage to have a bit of fun on location…

sometimes as human props to frame the shot,

or hiding just off camera!

We do also get to meet all the pets,

even the elusive tortoises hiding in the garden!

I hope you enjoyed this sneak peak of some of our favourite outtakes and enjoy browsing the finished images in The Annual, issue four and maybe appreciate them just that little bit extra now!
