Our January Favourites – Sock Samples
We always love putting up our washing line of knitted socks at shows with all our favourite samples on it – showcasing the best of texture, cables, lace, colourwork and stripes!
With our upcoming release of our new Exmoor Sock shades, (available already to you lovely Mill Members on the Secret Mill Member Page!) it got us digging out those sock samples to admire and dreaming of new colour combos…
Here are a couple we’ve been lusting over this week:
A fan favourite that always draws the eye is Lost in Sherwood by Nataliya Sinelschova (Ravelry | Lovecrafts) with its bold chevrons in punchy neon ‘Oddmedod’! We’d love to see a proper graphic pair in our new charcoal ‘Pollywiggle’, and trusty ‘Mizzle’.
For more stripes, the Eruca Socks by Rebekka Mauser (Ravelry) are our go-to option with sizes all the way down to baby, and a mismatching bright colours theme which is sure to make you smile. ‘Oolypuggers’ and ‘Fuzzpig’ would be our pick, with a pop of ‘Blooth’ for contrast!
A new bestseller has been the Lilleke Socks by Aleks Byrd (Ravelry | Aleks’ Website) that match her amazing sweater pattern, with a fun Roosimine panel down the front for some eye-catching colourful detail. A pair with our burgundy, ‘Hurdy’ would be divine with some of our heathered Appledore shades, like Slack Ma’ Girdle’ and ‘Sheep’s Nose’.
Another bestseller from Aleks is Truuduse (Ravelry | Aleks’ Website), a simple shortie with twisted vikkel stitches down the sides, which we think is super fun to knit!
Another simple option is the Gavl Socks by Alice Sleight (Ravelry) that have just the right amount of asymmetric texture to draw the eye and make the knitting interesting too. Our brand new lilac, ‘Heedy Peep’ would look lovely peeping over the top of a pair of ankle boots.
If cables are your thing, we recommend the Harbour Chain Socks by Anthea Willis (Ravelry) as a simple but effective all over pattern that is classic and wearable.
And if you want something eye catching and novel, the Blàthan Socks by Fay Dashper Hughes (Ravelry | Provenance Craft Co.) are vanilla socks spruced up with some embroidered flowers for maximum colour impact!
We might be showing off a few new sock samples very soon…
Just thinking about all these colour combos has our brains a’buzzing! Our new Exmoor Sock shades can be found on our secret Mill Members pages, and will be available very soon to our wider audience.
