Colour Play: Selecting Shades Without Knitting a Stitch with Aleks Byrd

6th July 2024, 2.30pm – 3.30pm (BST / GMT+1)

Need help picking the perfect colour combo for your next colourwork project? Take the fear out of choosing shades, without knitting a single stitch with expert, Aleks Byrd. Discover Aleks’ top tips and tricks to make this process fun, and find your next favourite colour combo using only basic tools such as colouring pencils, paper, yarn, scissors and a phone – no swatching required! Learn different ways to test out colour combos and make charts to match your yarn.

You’ll also discover the many different techniques to test your new colour-skills in the wider knitting world. As well as stranded colourwork and fair isle knitting, you’ll also explore Roosimine, Estonian inlay, corrugated rib, and slip stitch mosaic to name just a few. It’s the perfect way to spend more time knitting and less time agonising over which shades work best together.

This event will be hosted on Zoom. It is one of many being planned for our Virtual Mill Open Weekend celebrations. Please follow this link to see all that we are planning for this year’s Virtual MOW.
