Combe Wrap & Blanket Kit (Annual Three)

£133.00 - £285.00

We now offer handy kits for all our patterns in Annual (issue three). This is the fabulous Combe Wrap & Blanket from Fabienne Gassmann, and all kits include enough yarn to knit this wrap / blanket, along with a limited edition button badge and a fab project bag to keep it all safe. Happy knitting! Please be aware that the kit does not include a copy of the Annual as we know some of you will have ordered them separately.

Reminiscent of moorland skies after rain, or lichen growing on wet and shiny rock, this design creates a wonderfully cosy blanket or wrap to hide under after a country walk on a stormy day, or to wrap up with before venturing out. ‘Combe’ means steep, hollow valley and Exmoor is covered in them – which is why you need something warm when out exploring on the moor!

Knitted in simple rectangular garter intarsia with two strands of Appledore yarn held together throughout, using three contrast colours marled in alternating combinations to create a heathered check effect.

Gauge
Measured over main stitch pattern, after blocking:

Blanket: 15 sts x 21 rows = 10cm / 4″     Wrap: 20 sts x 26 rows = 10cm / 4”

The stitch pattern used will loosen over time. The samples were ever so slightly stretched width-wise when measuring gauge.

Needles
Circular knitting needles, of length suitable for working large circumferences:
Blanket: 5mm (UK6 / US 8)     Wrap: 3.5mm (UK9 / US 4)

Always use a needle size that results in the correct gauge after blocking.

Pattern Notes
If you want your wrap/blanket to have a gradient effect, similar to the samples, choose your colours from a dark (CC1), mid (CC2) and pale (CC3) palette.

Don’t worry if you’re new to intarsia, this publication has a helpful article, taking you through all the steps.
