Hand Dyed Yarn – Ovis et Cetera on Custom No-Nylon Sock base, Close

As part of our Mill Open Weekend celebrations, we have curated a glorious selection of hand dyed yarns, showcasing the dyers who use our bases to create their beautiful wares.

Saskia is the talented dyer behind Ovis Et Cetera. We custom spin a very special base just for her, which she has called ‘Close’, a 4ply non-superwash sock blend of three locally sourced sheep breeds, Devon Closewool, Exmoor Blueface and Zwartbles, spun with extra twist for increased durability. The addition of Zwartbles gives it a lovely heathered colour while paying tribute to dyer, Saskia’s Dutch heritage.

German-based Saskia uses the eco-friendly GOTS-certified acid dye from Greener shades and makes a point to reuse water wherever possible.
