Midwinter Tops – Murmuration

To celebrate this chilly season, we have created some gorgeous Midwinter Tops in a limited number, that remind us of winter in the natural world and all the joys this season brings to us here in North Devon.

As we begin to say goodbye to 2024, the days become darker and shorter, the countryside loses its fresh pops of summer colour and frost starts to welcome us most mornings when we step out of the door. There’s lots to inspire us at this time of year and Laura has created ‘Murmuration’ and ‘Last Leaves’ as a reflection of our changing landscape.

When we look out upon the North Devon countryside at a late afternoon sunset, we often see hundreds of tiny starlings, dark spots of drifting shadow, across a pink and blue sky. They are returning to roost after a day of feeding and are a beautiful sight to behold on a winter’s afternoon. A swirling flock like this is called a ‘Murmuration’ and we felt that it was the perfect name for this beautiful mix of pinks, light blues, flashes of white with patches of darker blue.

The blend of Merino, BFL, Exmoor BFL, Romney and British Wool is soft to the touch, but has enough structure and grip to make it an excellent choice for colourwork or textured stitches. We can’t wait to see how it works up!
