Patterns Made Simple: a Q&A with Emily Wessel of Tin Can Knits
6th July 2024, 4.30pm – 5.30pm (BST / GMT+1)
Emily, the co-founder at Tin Can Knits, is joining us for a really exciting chat! As well as nattering with us about her limited-edition yarn she’s created with us, just for our Open Weekend celebrations, she’ll be answering your questions and introducing us to the new Tin Can Knits app!
Emily has always wanted to help us get MORE out of our patterns. More sizes (TCK patterns start at newborn, and size up to 6XL!), more yarn-weights, more options, and more tutorial support too. But, most importantly, she aims to make TCK patterns radically SIMPLE, because after all, isn’t that what we want from our knitting?
Well, now there’s an app for that – hurrah! Emily joins us from Vancouver Island, Canada, to show us how the Tin Can Knits pattern app is revolutionizing knitting patterns – that is – making them SIMPLER!
So why not download the free app now and cast on one of the 10 glorious free patterns?

Tutor Bio:
Emily is one half of design duo Tin Can Knits! She loves to innovate, learn new things, and make knitting patterns even better. Designing together with Alexa since 2010, they have published 10 pattern collections, including the free Simple Collection learn-to-knit series, and a collaborative ebook that raised over $90,000 for malaria prevention. They are known for sizing their patterns inclusively from baby-to-big, from birth to adult 6XL. Their business has grown alongside their families, so the collections are a window into their evolving design style and their rapidly growing kids!
Emily’s focus in 2024 is the Tin Can Knits Pattern App, the development of a new, more accessible and simple format for knitting patterns! In the app, you choose a size and see only the numbers that apply to you. You’ll tap through, one step at a time, and the app keeps track. Learning a new technique? There’s support linked on each and every instruction. Download the free app on the App Store or Play Store now and cast on one of the 10 free patterns.
