‘Space Talk’ – Our Mill Open Weekend Special by Ysolda
As part of our annual Mill Open Weekend shenanigans, we always create a limited-edition mini collection of yarn and tops to help celebrate in style. This year we’ve been even more excited than usual, as we’ve been collaborating with some rather fabulous designers!
Emily Wessel (Tin Can Knits), Aleks Byrd, and Ysolda Teague-Long have each created custom shades of our beloved Yarnadelic. We’ve gotta’ hand it to them, they certainly have an eye for colour, so we’re just smitten with the shades they’ve blended up for us!
Knitwear designer extraordinaire, Ysolda, has created ‘Space Talk’, a delicate pastel mix of bright blues, yellows and pale naturals, with a pop of orange here and there. It perfectly encapsulates the magic of a heathered shade, at first glance its a pale teal, but then the closer one looks the more nuances one sees. It feels fresh, zingy and a little ethereal, inspired by ‘Space Talk’ by Asha Puthli, a delicate synthed up spacey disco track.
You’ll find our other Mill Open Weekend specials – ‘Moonage Daydream’ by Emily from Tin Can Knits, ‘Dark Star’ by Aleks Byrd, ‘Halftone’ by Tiny Fibre Studio and ‘Whipsiderry’ by Amanda Hannaford.

Our Yarnadelic Range
These Mill Open Weekend Specials are spun to the same specification as our Yarnadelic range, available in tops, sport/ heavy 4ply and worsted. Yarnadelic is 100% Falklands Corriedale. The breed is around 100 years old and was derived by crossing the Merino and Lincoln Longwool. It is one of our favourite fibres as its properties are a perfect balance of delightful softness and bounce from the Merino combined with the slight lustre and long staple length of the Lincoln Longwool – a fibre lover’s dream!
By giving this yarn a rounded 3 fold structure, we’ve enhanced the fibres natural stitch definition and drape creating the ideal all round go to yarn for everything from cables to lace and garments to accessories.
Our Corriedale is farmed in the Falkland Islands – ensuring that the animals have been treated with the utmost care and are free from harmful mulesing. The fibre has then been dyed in the UK and lovingly prepared, blended and spun at our North Devon Mill.
