Sweater Knitting – Get the Perfect Fit Every Time with Amanda Jones

This workshop is part of our Mill Open Weekend celebrations.

How often have you spent hours knitting a garment in yarn you love, only to try it on and realize it just doesn’t fit you the way you intended? It’s a dilemma we can all identify with, and there’s nothing more demoralizing! Happily, it’s one that Amanda is here to solve…

From taking accurate measurements to understanding pattern instructions to making a pattern work for you and your unique ideas, Amanda is here to hold your hand through each step. The class will cover:

· The importance of swatching to get the fabric you want, and how to adjust the gauge in the pattern if needed.
· How to take accurate measurements.
· Figuring out the amount of ease and fit of the garment you’d like to knit.
· How to adapt a pattern, or add your own twist or yarn substitutions.

At the end of the class, you’ll have a pattern that works for YOU to get the sweater you’re dreaming of. Ace!

Skill Level Information: Open to all skill levels with a basic knowledge of knitting.
What is included? Everyone will receive a fact pack and a measurement chart to take home and use for future projects. You will also receive a complimentary voucher for a beverage from the pop-up MOW café.
What do students need to bring? A notebook and pen and a sweater pattern that you’d like to knit and discuss. We’ll be able to give you a 10% discount on yarn if you pick something up to make it over the weekend.
